In the production of man-made fibers, the first step after filament formation is spin finish application. Spin finish is a liquid multicomponent formulation that protects the newly formed fiber by coating it. Properly distributed Spin Finish on fibers allow the fibers to run more smoothly through spinning machines and ensure rapid and more reliable operation. An important function of the spin finish is to prepare the fiber for subsequent processing steps, such as crimping, spinning, texturing and weaving.
